The research project 'Creative Practice in Contemporary Concert Music' was a three year study (2011-14) at the University of Oxford focusing on the collaborative work between composers and performers in the realisation of contemporary pieces of music. 'Creative Practice in Contemporary Concert Music' is one of four projects that ran within the 5yr (2009-14) AHRC Research Centre for Musical Performance as Creative Practice (CMPCP).
The project documented and analysed a series of case studies - collaborative projects between composers and performers - with a view to understanding such cultural work as distributed, cognitively and socio-culturally. Data collection and analysis made use of audio-visual recordings of rehearsals, performances as well as interview material with participants.
